How to Release Your Song on Spotify, JioSaavn & Apple Music in India

You recorded a song and now you want people to hear it on Spotify, JioSaavn, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Instagram and every other app. Artists cannot upload songs to these stores directly — every store takes music only from a music distributor. A distributor delivers your song, keeps it correct on every store and collects the earnings for you.

This guide explains the whole process in simple words, the way it works at RDV Entertainment.

What you need before you start

• Audio: a high-quality WAV file of the final mix (not an MP3 downloaded from WhatsApp or YouTube).
• Cover art: a square image of exactly 3000 × 3000 pixels. No website links, phone numbers or store logos on it.
• Song details: title, singers, lyricist, composer, language, genre and mood.
• Caller tune part: the 30-second part of the song you want as a caller tune, and a short name for it.
• ISRC (optional): if you already have an ISRC or UPC you can use it — otherwise RDV Entertainment gives you an ISRC for free.
• Rights: the song must be yours. Do not upload songs, beats or samples you do not own.

Step by step

1. 1Create your account and choose a planSign up with your email, confirm it and fill in the short application (plan, artist or label, your music, your details, documents). You can start on the Free plan.
2. 2Get approvedOur team checks your application. Paid plans get a payment QR after approval. Once your account is active you get your member ID.
3. 3Create a releaseUpload the WAV audio and cover art, fill in the song details and choose your go-live date. Pick a date at least a few days ahead so the song reaches every store on time.
4. 4We check and deliverOur team reviews the song (usually the same day) and sends it to the stores. Stores usually take about 2–3 days to accept it. You can follow every status — Submitted, Under Review, Approved, Live — in your dashboard.
5. 5Go live and shareOn the go-live date your song appears on Spotify, JioSaavn, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Wynk, Gaana, Instagram & Facebook and 150+ stores and platforms. Share the live links with your fans.

How do I earn money?

Every store pays for the streams and downloads of your song. The stores send their reports to the distributor (usually monthly, a few months after the streaming happens). The earnings are added to your account in the dashboard, and you can withdraw them to your verified bank account once you cross the payout limit. Common mistakes to avoid

• Using a cover image that is not exactly 3000 × 3000 pixels, or that has a website or phone number written on it.
• Spelling the singer's name differently on different songs — your songs then end up on two different artist pages.
• Choosing a go-live date for tomorrow. Keep a few days so every store can publish on the same day.
• Uploading a cover version or remix without permission from the original owner.
